Cystoscopy

Preparation and aftercare notes for an in-rooms bladder inspection.

What it involves

  • A cystoscopy allows Prof Jeffery to look inside the bladder with a fine camera.
  • It is scheduled by the practice when required after assessment.

Before

  • Bring previous urine tests, scans and referral notes if you have them.
  • Tell the team if you have symptoms of a urinary infection before the appointment.

On the day

  • The procedure is explained first and proceeds only with your consent.
  • Ask the practice whether you should arrange transport afterwards. [CONFIRM]

Afterwards

  • Some burning or light blood in the urine can happen briefly afterwards.
  • Call the practice for fever, heavy bleeding, increasing pain or difficulty passing urine.
