Coming in for surgery
General admission and preparation notes for patients whose surgery has been scheduled.
What it involves
- • Surgery is booked directly with the practice after consultation and informed consent.
- • Your admission instructions, theatre time and authorisation requirements are confirmed individually.
Before
- • Complete digital registration and submit requested documents before admission.
- • Follow fasting, medication, medical aid authorisation and hospital admission instructions exactly as supplied.
On the day
- • Arrive at the time stated in your admission paperwork and bring identification and medical aid details.
- • Arrange a responsible adult to take you home if advised by the practice or hospital.
Afterwards
- • Follow your written discharge instructions and attend the arranged follow-up appointment.
- • Seek urgent care or contact the practice for heavy bleeding, fever, severe pain, wound concerns or sudden deterioration.
